November Book Club Meeting

The Partners in Reading Book Club enjoyed a wonderful evening of fun and discussion on October 20th. We would like to invite more particpants to join us for our next meeting which will be held on Novebmer 17, 2009 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the media center.

Come out and support the PTA Book Fair. There is something for everyone. There are books for pre-schoolers, picture books, chapter books, novels, YA, reference books, holiday books, even books for adults. The Book Fair will be open to students during their regular Browse and Borrow periods. It will also be open on Wednesday , Ocotber 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and on Thursday, October 22nd, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Partners-in-Reading Book Club

The Partners-n-Reading book club is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, October 20, 2009.We will meet from 7:00 to 8:30 PM in the media center . Our activities and discussion will be centered around the book How to Steal a Dog by Barbara O’Connor. All 4th , 5th and 6th grade students and their adult reading partners are invited to attend.

Welcome back to school!
I hope that everyone enjoyed a restful summer break and that you found some really great books to read.
Please remember that all summer reading forms for grades 1 through 5 should be returned to Mrs. SOmers by Friday, September 11, 2009.
We will be working on summer reading projects in the Media Center over the next two weeks. Invite your parents to stop by and see your work on Back-to-School night.
What’s new in the Media Center?
1) Look for new books and Playaways.
2) Look for some new magazine titles too.
3) The 6th , 7th , and 8th grade students are inviting to take the Blook Blogging Challange. Log in , review a book and be entered to win a prize. See the “Book Blogging Challenge” link at the top of this page.
4) I am looking forward to some fun library lunch projects this year for grades K-3 .
5) Grade 4 and 5 should keep their ears open for chess, origami, and scrabble programs scheduled during lunch time. We will start these programs in October.

Every student is given an opportunity to visist the library on a weekly basis to check out books for their own pleasure reading. Please refer to the schedule posted on the “Browse and Borrow “ link listed at the top of this page.

September is almost here. We have just a few more weeks to finish up the summer reading assignment. I thought I would share some of the titles of the childrens’ and young adult titles that I read this summer.
